As a poet, I’m always searching for good rhythmical poetry to read. Apart from the classics, I also like reading the work of current crop of poets. Although, in this world of blank poetry, it is becoming increasingly difficult to read just a verse or two, from a poem that offers rhyme.
Which brings me to a recently published anthology of poems by poetess Pooja Pant. Fascinatingly the book carries the same initials as the name of the poetess. Pristine Paragons by Pooja Pant. As I said, the name of the book and the poetess is quite similar.
A world of human emotions
Pristine paragons is an anthology of 13 poems. Each one is as good as the other. The focal point that is constant throughout the book is very thoughtful utilisation of rhymes and near rhymes. At some places the poetess has tinkered with the metre but that has been done to maintain the rhyming pattern.
What makes pristine paragons a thought provoking read is that each poem tells a story. Within that story is hidden a very powerful message about a human virtue. Through use of rhymes the poetess has told the stories in a way that makes each poem thought provoking.
Beautiful presentation
Not only is each poem written beautifully, it is also preceded by a small write up that explains the poem before you read it. Although that write up in itself is a very self explanatory, we also have an artwork before that write up. In some instances these art pieces might look random, but once you have read the poem, do revisit that art.
The best 3
Amongst all the 13 poems if I have to pick the three best ones they will be
- Savitri is not a myth
- The valor of a warriors wife
- Beyond the human love
