Hello Movie Nerds
Directed by debutant director Unni Govindraj Heaven is a movie that belongs to only one man and that is Suraj Venjaramoodu
He has given such a fine nuanced performance as a grieving father who is seeking not just answers to the murder of his son but also vengeance.
The story is a slow burner but both the opening and the ending are equally shocking. The character of lead protagonist is very well etched. As an audience you feel his pain and turmoil as he struggles between being a police officer and a father. One particular scene which depicts this turmoil perfectly is where he stumbles upon the dead body of his son and wants to hug him but is stopped by another police member, who reminds him that it is a crime scene. In that scene the expressions of protagonist are deeply moving as he struggles to hold himself back.
Heaven is a murder mystery which focuses more on the human emotions rather than the shock and thrill factor. It is akin to watching a delicious dish cook slowly as your appetite builds. Heaven is indeed a delicious dish only if you have the patience to wait for it to get ready.
If you are looking for an edge of seat thriller then this is not the movie for you, but if you want a simmering tale of murder, suspense and revenge then you will love it.
