Graphic novels written by celebrities are very few in number but even fewer are graphic novels were the lead character is modeled after a celebrity. Cold space by boom studios is one such graphic novel with the lead being played by none other than Mr Nick Fury aka Samuel L. Jackson.

Plot
Cold space is a space western centred around a space criminal named Mulberry. The ore mining town of El matador is thrown into chaos with the accidental arrival of Mulberry. How does this space criminal navigate the murky power struggle of all this stakeholders in that town is the basic premise of this graphic novel.
Art
The artwork of cold space is a pleasure to see. The picturization of Samuel Jackson as Mulberry is flawless. Apart from that the art and colours do a splendid job creating the ambience of a sparsely populated town where the rule of gun rules supreme. Each and every face has a distinct look and one can feel the characters emotions through the artwork.
Story
Cold space does not offer much in terms of the depth in story. It is a very straight forward western with unidimensional characters. To be fair, this graphic novel is just another vehicle to drive home the point that Samuel Jackson is a badass alpha male. The story has been written just to depict that he is awesome. Amongst a multitude of characters, each having their own personal goals, Mulberry exists just to kick all of their asses into the ground, without breaking a sweat. Apart from Mulberry the only character that actually looks menacing is Patience. The character of Mulberry has been given some of the best one liners in a style typically reminiscent of the on screen persona of Samuel Jackson.
Final Verdict
Cold space is a one time read but only if you are a fan of Samuel Jackson. It offers nothing spectacular and as previously mentioned, it is just a reminder of the fact that Mr Jackson is a bonafide legend.
