Korean cinema surpasses cinema of any other country by a mile. Their stories are fresh, emotions are raw, fictions are mind boggling and overall, each movie is leagues better than anything else you can watch. No wonder that even Hollywood has been bitten by the bug of remaking Korean cinema. Carter is yet another movie that will definitely be remade by some Hollywood house in near future.
An action spectacle
Carter is an action spectacle. Right from the first scene where we are introduced to the titular character, we get launched into a world of insane action. The action choreography is so riveting that even a blink can make you miss some or the other mind blowing action sequence. The first fight sequence where our hero takes on almost hundred semi naked men and women in a sauna is a treat for fans of blood and gore.
And just when you think that nothing can top such and insane amount of action, you run headfirst into something that is even far more insane.
A mind boggling mystery
Carter is not merely an action movie, but it also keeps you on tenterhooks with a simmering mystery about who exactly Carter is. In a story full of twist and turns, international espionage and a rage virus make this movie even more intriguing. The cinematography is top notch and VFX look amazing.
Excess is never right
While the movie does have the ability to entertain, towards the end the action sequences become repetitive. You are bound to feel a sense of exhaustion at the end due to the constant adrenaline rush from the word go. The length of this movie is its greatest weakness.
Performances
This movie belongs only and only to Carter (played amazingly by action star Joo Won). He gives an apt performance as a man searching for his memories, and answers about his true identity. In an action movie like this, there is little scope to emote and yet, one can feel the confusion written clearly on face of Joo Won.
Final Verdict
Carter is an amazing piece of action cinema. The length though is a problem but if you are watching for OTT, you can pause the movie for an extended interval to escape the adrenaline exhaustion.
