Hello Comic Nerds
I love exploration. Whenever I start some new hobby or work, I search for ways to make it more enjoyable and productive. I love exploration so much that I should rename myself as Magellan. Therefore when I dived into the world of Kindle, I frantically searched for Indian graphic novels. That is when my search brought me to this graphic novel titled “The cities beneath”.

Plot
The Cities beneath is an Indo German graphic novel created as a part of a cultural exchange program. I would definitely told you about the plot had their been one. The whole structure revolves around the concept that no matter the time or place, War is eternal.
Art
The art of this book in first couple of pages is decent but from there on goes downhill and very fast. Weird faces, crooked body structures and everything else. It is all a mess when it comes to defining the art of this graphic novel. Here and there a splash page happens, which breaks the monotony of poor art.
Story
The story is one jumbled up mess of God knows what. We have a war from where two soldiers of each side end up together and lose themselves in a network of underground tunnels. From there on it is a journey that makes little sense. From weird monsters to giant rats and humanoid serpents, you have to suffer. The ending does put forth the point the writer wanted to make, but the journey is simply unbearable.
Final Verdict
Exploration is fraught with risks. Sometimes you end up finding gold and sometimes you run the risk of stepping into horse manure. This time it was the latter.
